Srinagar (NVI): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar today said that we welcome those youth, who have joined militancy, with open arms to surrender before getting trapped or they can surrender during an encounter.
IGP Kashmir made these statements while addressing a press conference called to divulge information about the Shopian encounter in which four terrorists were killed this morning.
Speaking at the presser, Kumar said those youth who have joined militancy have two options.
“Either they can surrender before getting trapped or they can surrender during an encounter. We will receive them with open arms and we will always welcome those who want to shun path of violence,” he added.
He also made an intense appeal to parents to take care of their children and don’t let them join militant ranks.
“I appeal to those parents whose sons have joined militancy to persuade their children to shun path of militancy. Media can play an important role in this regard. We welcome those youth with open heart who are ready to shun militancy,” Kumar said.
IGP Kashmir further said that progress and prosperity lies in peaceful atmosphere.
“We wish people earn their livelihood and more and more tourists visit Kashmir Valley. We will ensure schools and colleges function normally round the year but it is possible only in peaceful environment,” he added.
