New Delhi (NVI): The Cyclonic storm “Bulbul” that is moving northwards over eastcentral Bay of Bengal is very likely to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during the next 24 hours, the IMD said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, PK Mishra on November 7 reviewed the measures taken by Odisha, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands to deal with the situation in the wake of cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’.
The cyclonic storm is very likely to move northnorthwestwards towards West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts.
IMD has issued alert for 14 district of Odisha as the cyclone is likely to hit West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Bangladesh.
Cyclone “Bulbul” is a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal and is set to intensify into a cyclonic storm.
IMD has informed that the cyclone may not touch Odisha coast for its landfall. It may go towards West Bengal and Bangladesh. But light to medium rainfall is expected in the coastal districts of north Odisha from November 9 onward.
“Light to moderate rainfall is also expected over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 24 hours and West Bengal is likely to have light to moderate rainfall with heavy falls over coastal districts from November 10-11”, IMD added.
The IMD has adviced fishermen not to venture into the sea.
Meanwhile, Cyclonic storm “Maha” has weakened into a deep depression, and lay centered over eastcentral and adjoining northeast Arabian Sea.
It is very likely to move east-northeastwards and weaken into a depression over northeast and adjoining eastcentral Arabian Sea off south Gujarat coast during the next 12 hours, IMD said.
