New Delhi (NVI): Addressing the 75th edition of his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio programme today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that modernisation in agriculture sector is the need of the hour and to create employment opportunities in this sector, it is important to adopt new alternatives.

He said that innovations along with traditional agricultural practices are equally important to increase farmers’ income. PM also cited the example of white revolution and how bee farming is emerging as one such alternative.

Notably, the Prime Minister’s call for modernisation in agriculture comes at a time when hundreds of farmers have been camping at Delhi’s borders since November last year, in protest against the recently passed farm bills.

During his address, PM Modi also paid tribute to corona warriors and said that “Janata Curfew” last year became an inspiration to the world.

“Last year it was this very month of March when the country heard the term ‘Janata Curfew’for the first time. Just have a look at the experience of the might of the great Praja, people of this great country…Janata Curfew had become a bewilderment to the entire world. It was an unprecedented example of discipline; generations to come will certainly feel proud at that,” he said.

PM also lauded people for their awareness and enthusiasm for getting Covi-19 vaccine, while giving example of a 109-yr-old woman in Jaunpur and a 107-yr-old man in Delhi who got themselves vaccinated.
