New Delhi (NVI): India recorded a massive surge with 81,466 new coronavirus infections being reported in the last 24 hours, the overall tally has climbed to 12,303,131, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.
The death count climbed to 1,63,396 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 469 lives during this period, the data showed.
Yesterday, India had recorded 72,330 new coronavirus cases. Apart from that, 459 new COVID-19 fatalities were reported across the country.
Currently, more than 1.15 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stands at 11,525,039.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 active caseload increased to 6,14,696 with an increase of 30,641 cases in the last 24 hours.
Of the 81,466 new infections, 43,183 were from Maharashtra. Chhattisgarh recorded its highest ever count, with 4,617 cases. Karnataka also reported over 4,000 cases.
The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2,856,163), Kerala (1,127,382), Karnataka (1,001,238), Andhra Pradesh (903,260), and Tamil Nadu (889,490).
