North East India to witness rainfall during April 8-11

New Delhi (NVI): North East India to witness scattered to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning during April 8 to 11, 2021, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

According to IMD, Thunderstorm, lightning are expected over Assam and Meghalaya on April 8 and 9 while in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on April 9.

“Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Arunachal Pradesh on April 9 and 10, 2021,” IMD noted.

The IMD has predicted maximum temperatures above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

Due to cyclonic circulation over Jammu and Kashmir, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall or snowfall with thunderstorm, lightning or gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) are very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarkhand during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter.

The department also said that heat wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over East Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand during next 48 hours and over West Madhya Pradesh, east Vidarbha, South Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Bihar during next 24 hours.
