New Delhi (NVI): Multiple states in southern India, including Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, are expected to witness heavy rainfall over the next few days, India Meteorological Department (IMD).
A trough/wind discontinuity at lower tropospheric levels is set to cause scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching the speeds of 30-40 kmph, over Southwest Peninsular India during this period.
Isolated heavy showers are also on the cards over Puducherry and Karaikal over the next three days, whereas Coastal and South Interior Karnataka may also witness heavy precipitation for the next 24 hours.
In view of these predictions, the IMD has issued a yellow watch over all of the aforementioned subdivisions for the next two days.
Furthermore, isolated heavy showers with thunderstorms are also likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh with lightning and gusty winds at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand in the next 24 hours, IMD added.
The same system is also likely to produce isolated rains and thunderstorms over Maharashtra’s adjoining subdivisions of Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Konkan-Goa for the next 24 hours, and across Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during April 15-18.
