New Delhi (NVI) Continuing with its massive surge of positive corona cases, India today reported 3,23,144 fresh Covid cases and 2,771 virus related deaths, according to the latest data released by Union Health Ministry this morning. This is for the sixth straight day that the country has recorded over 3 lakh new Covid cases.

With this, the cumulative tally has risen to 1,76,36,307 of which 28,82,204 are active cases. Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh continue to show high number of daily cases at 48,700 and 33,351 respectively.

Apart from that, 2,51,827 people have recovered from the infection, taking total recoveries to 1,45,56,209 or 82.53% of the overall caseload.

India has yesterday recorded 3,52,991 new Covid-19 cases and 2,812 deaths, a record high and biggest single day surge in the world.

Meanwhile, India has received 95 oxygen concentrators and 100 ventilators from the UK. The country is facing scarcity of resources like medical oxygen and medicines amid the second wave of the pandemic.

n another development, US President Joe Biden held a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi last night and promised to make available raw materials for Covishield vaccine, whose ban recently became a huge irritant in the bilateral relations.

The US had invoked a domestic law to prohibit supply of raw materials to India required for the covid vaccine.

During last night’s call, Biden said the US was determined to quickly supply therapeutics, ventilators and identifying sources of raw materials to be made available for the manufacture of Covishield vaccines.
