Doda (NVI): 16 people were killed and several got injured in a road accident today, when a passenger vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, police said.
According to the information, the vehicle carrying more than dozen passengers was headed for Gowa village of Marmat from Kleeni when the driver lost control while negotiating a blind curve near the Marmat area of the hilly district.
The vehicle rolled 500 feet down on main Batote-Doda highway from a link road.
The injured were rescued and admitted to hospital.
On November 7, an army vehicle had met with a road accident in the Langate area of J&K’s Kupwara district due to poor visibility caused by heavy snowfall. Two army jawans had died in the accident.
