New Delhi (NVI): In view of Cyclone Yaas, the Army has deployed a substantial number of its personnel and relevant assets for Rescue and Relief purposes in West Bengal and Odisha.
In West Bengal, a total of 17 Columns of Army have been pre-positioned for assistance to State Administration.
Three Columns have been positioned at Kolkata East, central and East Midnapore, an Army spokesman said today.
Two Columns each have been positioned at Nadia, West Midnapore, Purulia, West Burdhman, Jhargram, Bakura, Howrah, Kolkata Port, North and South 24 Parganas, the spokesman said.
One Column each has been positioned at Birbhum, Kolkata South, Hoogly and Behala (Kolkata), he said.
In Odisha, three Columns and one Engineer Task Forces have been positioned at Balasore, the spokesman said.
