Heavy rainfall likely over East and Peninsular India

New Delhi (NVI): Parts of East and Peninsular India are expected to receive heavy rainfall with lightning and gusty winds exceeding up to 50 kmph today, the IMD said.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD, “Heavy Rainfall at isolated places very likely over Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe.”

“Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) very likely at isolated places over East Rajasthan,” it said.

Strong Wind (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over Southwest and West-central Arabian Sea, the IMD said.

East-central Arabian Sea and Gulf of Mannar, Comorin area are also likely to witness gusty wind speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph. Fishermen advised not to venture here.
