New Delhi: With the onset of Monsoon, Kerala has received heavy rainfall since yesterday.
Several districts of Kerala have recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall between 10cm to 16cm.
“Southwest monsoon remained active over Kerala. Rain occurred at most places in Kerala and Lakshadweep during past 24 hours ending at 0830 hrs IST of today,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Strong Wind of about 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely over Southwest and Westcentral Arabian Sea and with wind speed 40-50 kmph over Lakshadweep area, Southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala coast today.
Fishermen advised not to venture here, the IMD said.
As per IMD, very heavy rainfall of about 16cm recorded in Vakkad (Malappuram district), Konni (Pathanamthitta district) and Kanjirappally (Kottayam district) recorded 14cm rainfall each.
“Poonjar (Kottayam district) and Konni (Pathanamthitta district) received 13cm each, Piravam (Ernakulam district) recorded 12cm rainfall,” the IMD said.
Vellanikkara & Vilangankunnu (both in Thrissur district) received heavy rainfall of about 11cm each, Peringamala (Thiruvananthapuram district) received 10cm rainfall.
“C.I.A.L. Kochi and Muvattupuzha (both in Ernakulam district) and Vynthala (Thrissur district) recorded 9cm rainfall each,” it said.
Enamakkal (Thrissur district), Seethathode (Pathanamthitta district), Peringalkuthu AWS (Thrissur district) & Neeleswaram (Ernakulam district) have received 8cm rainfall each.
Kozhikode, Kozha (Kottayam district), West Kallada (Kollam district) & Neryamangalam (Ernakulam district) recorded 7cm rainfall each, the IMD added.
