New Delhi: Several parts of India are likely to receive heavy rainfall and experience thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds exceeding up to 60 kmph, the IMD said today.
“Thunderstorm with lightning & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) at isolated places very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands,” it said.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Heavy Rainfall at isolated places over Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, “ the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted in its daily weather bulletin.
With lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over East Rajasthan and Bihar.
“Lightning expected at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep,” it said.
Strong Winds (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over Central & South Arabian Sea; Central & Southwest Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas, the IMD said.
