New Delhi (NVI): A grand celebration at Embassy of India in Berlin marked the auspicious occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji that included a series of commemorative events in collaboration with Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in German capital.
More than 200 people from the Sikh community in Germany, Indian diaspora organizations and local Germans have participated in the grand celebrations of ‘Gurupurab’ yesterday, said an official statement.
The event included the screening of “Sarbat Da Bhala (Good of Humanity)”, a short digital video on the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji who travelled far and wide and founded an egalitarian faith based on brotherhood and service of humanity. Berliners got a glimpse of the teachings and ideals of Guru Nanak Dev Ji through the video.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of India, Mukta Dutta Tomar highlighted the key initiatives taken by the Government of India and the events organized by Embassy of India, Berlin to honour Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th Birth Anniversary.
Meanwhile, Dutta also emphasized Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of love, peace and equality which holds significance beyond the boundaries of borders, beliefs and timespan.
On October 6, the Embassy of India, Berlin, in collaboration with Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Berlin e.V. had organized a seminar as part of the series of events to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Berlin.
At the seminar, Scholars and inter-faith leaders discussed the universal and eternal values of Guru Nanak Dev.
Earlier this year in April, the Embassy of India, Berlin had joined hands with the Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha for a tree planting initiative across the country. Marking a symbolic ceremony, around five Soapberry trees were planted in Potsdamer Platz in the heart of Berlin and the event was attended by representatives of the German Parliament, Government of Berlin and the Indian community.
