New Delhi (NVI): Traders’ body CAIT has launched a nation-wide movement to protest against Amazon and Flipkart and other e-commerce companies, alleging that they are flouting FDI policy norms and destroying the country’s retail business.
This, CAIT claims, was echoed by trade leaders from across 27 states in the country at a National Traders Conference held by CAIT here.
CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal criticized the attitude of ecommerce biggies Amazon and Flipkart and said it has launched a national movement on this issue.
The two-month protest which began on November 13 will continue till January 10, 2020, the offcial said in a statement.
Khandelwal also said that on this issue, a rally of prominent business leaders from all over the country will be held in Delhi around December 10, which will include thousands of traders from all over the country, while in January CAIT will hold a three-day National Traders Convention in the national capital, to be attended by over 10,000 merchants across the country.
He added that the conference has chalked out a roadmap for its nationwide agitation, which will be observed as “National Awareness Campaign Day” when traders delegations across the country will submit an exhaustive memorandum to all MPs, urging them to raise the issue in Parliament.
