New Delhi: Parts of East and Central India would continue to witness heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms due to the strengthening south-westerly winds, the IMD said.
“Heavy Rainfall very likely at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Assam & Meghalaya,” it forecasted in its daily weather bulletin today.
Parts of North India are also likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lighting and gusty winds exceeding up to 50kmph.
“Thunderstorm with lightning & gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands; with (speed 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan,” the IMD said.
Lightning is likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Kerala & Mahe and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, it said.
Strong Winds (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over Southwest and Westcentral Arabian Sea.
Squally Weather (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) over Westcentral Bay of Bengal along & off Andhra Pradesh coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas, the IMD added.
Earlier, two days back, IMD forecasted that under the influence of strengthening of moist south-westerly winds, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Northeast India during next 7 days with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over the region.
Subdued rainfall activity likely over westcentral and southern parts of India during next 1 week, it added.
