Heavy rain to continue over Delhi, Maharashtra and other states

New Delhi: Heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning likely to occur over parts of Northwest, East and Peninsular India including Maharashtra, the IMD said today.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, the IMD said.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), “Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places expected over Punjab, Haryana, East Uttar Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.”

“Parts of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe are expected to receive Heavy rainfall, it said.

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.

Strong winds (speed 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) very likely over North & Central Bay of Bengal; (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) along & off Gujarat-Maharashtra coasts.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas, the IMD said.
