New Delhi: In a noble initiative, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the infrastructure-building arm of the Defence Ministry, has undertaken the cause of educating children of Casual Paid Labourers (CPLs).
These labourers are employed by BRO for various road construction works on the Dharasu-Gangotri road in Uttarakhand.
Officers and supervisors of BRO are imparting education to these children in the most inhospitable high-altitude terrain, an official release said.
This idea was floated by Junior Engineer Rahul Yadav and Subedar Sandesh Pawar, who is responsible for road construction on Gangotri Highway in Uttarkashi district.
He felt that such children should be provided with basic education and kept engaged when their parents are out working.
