India registers 8,503 new Covid cases, 624 deaths

New Delhi: India registered 8,503 fresh Covid cases and 624 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said today.

With this, the cumulative death toll across the country has reached 4,74,735 while the country’s active cases now stand at 94,943.

The country’s active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.27%; which is the lowest since March 2020.

Around 7,678 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,41,05,066.

The vaccination figure has reached 1,31,18,87,257 across the country with inoculating 74,57,970 beneficiaries in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

Yesterday, the country reported 9,419 fresh Covid cases and 159 fatalities in 24 hours.

A day prior to that, 8,439 fresh COVID-19 cases and 195 fatalities were reported in 24 hours.

During the previous 24 hours, the country reported 6,822 fresh Covid cases, which was the lowest single-day figure in 558 days and 220 deaths.

The country reported 8,306 fresh single-day Covid cases and 211 deaths in 24 hours, a day earlier.

A day prior to that, the Ministry reported a big jump in single-day Covid fatalities, with 2796 deaths being reported from across the country on Sunday.

The death figure during the previous 24 hours was 415.
