Srinagar: With Covid cases being negligible now, the annual Amarnath Yatra will be held this year after being cancelled for 2 successive years because of the pandemic.
The pilgrimage to the Holy cave of Lord Shiva in the mountains in South Kashmir will commence from June 30 and continue for 43 days till Raksha Bandhan as usual, it was officially announced here today.
“Today chaired Board meeting of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. The 43-day holy pilgrimage will commence on 30th June with all covid protocols in place & culminate, as per the tradition,on the day of Raksha Bandhan,” Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha tweeted.
He said in-depth discussions were held on various issues regarding the Yatra.
For the last two successive years, the yatra was cancelled in view of Covid-19 pandemic.
However, last year, online ‘darshan’ was arranged for the millions of devotees worldwide to enable them to pay their obeisance to one of the most revered Hindu shrines.
Sinha had launched various online services of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board making it possible for the devotees to perform Virtual Puja, Hawan and book Prasad online.
The Virtual Pooja or Hawan was carried out by the Holy cave Pujari at the Cave shrine by pronouncing the name and Gotra of the devotee together with chanting of Mantras and Shlokas.
The devotees were let in a virtual online room through Jio meet application wherein they would be having a special virtual pooja and darshan of the Holy Ice Lingam in their name.
Arrangements were made with the Postal Department so as to enable dispatching Prasad within 48 hours.
