Top terrorist of Pak-based LeT outfit killed in Kashmir encounter, one more gunfight rages

Srinagar: A top terrorist commander of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed today in an encounter with security forces in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.

The encounter in Sirhama village of Anantnag started after a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a search operation following specific input about presence of terrorists there, the police said.

The hiding terrorists fired at the search party, which was retaliated, leading to a gunfight, the police said.

“01 local #terrorist of proscribed #terror outfit LeT killed. Search in progress. Further details shall follow,” said a tweet by Kashmir Zone Police.

Simultaneously, in the adjoining Kulgam district, another encounter is going on in ChakiSamad area of Damhal Hanjipora.

“In the #encounter at #Kulgam, no terrorist has been neutralised yet. #Operation going on,” said the latest tweet by Kashmir Zone police.
