New Delhi: India registered 2,259 new Covid cases and 20 deaths due to the pandemic during a span of 24 hours yesterday, the Health Ministry said today.
The active caseload of Covid stood at 15,044, it said.
With 20 more people dying yesterday, the total number of fatalities due to the pandemic has gone up to 5,24,323.
Yesterday, the government reported a substantial jump in single day Covid cases, with 2,364 fresh cases being registered in the preceding 24 hours (on Wednesday) against 1,829 cases recorded a day earlier (on Tuesday).
The country registered 1,569 fresh Covid cases and 19 deaths in 24 hours during 24 hours on Monday, which was reported on Tuesday.
A day prior to that, the country registered 2,202 new cases against 2,487 recorded during the same duration the previous day.
