Srinagar: After a lull, a group of two terrorists from Pakistan tried to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley in the intervening night but the Indian Army foiled the attempt, killing one and injuring the other.
The terrorists, using the cover of darkness, were trying to sneak into the Kashmir Valley by crossing the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara in Kashmir Valley.
“Alert troops on the Anti-infiltration grid intercepted two terrorists trying to infiltrate into own side in the forward area close to the Line of Control,” Defence spokesperson said.
“The two intruding terrorists were fired upon, leading to elimination of one terrorist, while grievously injuring the other,” he said.
However, the injured terrorist managed to flee to the Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir side, taking advantage of darkness, the spokesperson added.
A thorough search operation launched in the morning resulted in recovery of the dead terrorist, two AK series rifles, two pistols, two grenades along with 10 packets of narcotics, he said.
Indian army has repeatedly foiled Pakistan’s attempts to disrupt peace and harmony in Kashmir.
“Pakistan and Pakistan sponsored OGW nexus uses narco-terrorism to ruin the future of our youth while at the same time channeling funds collected from narco-trade to further their nefarious activities in Kashmir valley,” the spokesperson said.

The LoC divides Jammu and Kashmir into two parts and the porous boundary is often violated by Pakistan-supported terrorists.
The terrorists are hosted by the Pakistan Army at launch pads close to the LoC and are pushed into the Valley whenever the Pakistani military sees an opportunity.
The terrorists, trained by the Pakistani military, are sent to the Kashmiri Valley to cause violence and destruction there.
