Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government will “very soon” address most of the shortcomings in the tourism sector in terms of infrastructure, accommodation and transportation, promised Rajeev Raj Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
He said approximately 1 lakh crore rupees have been invested to develop road infrastructure in J&K.
He added that airports in Jammu and Kashmir will be equipped with night parking facilities which will ease travelling by air.
He was addressing a seminar organized by FICCI J&K State Council, jointly with the Union Ministry of Tourism and Jammu & Kashmir Tourism.
Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General in the Union Ministry of Tourism, said, “It is encouraging to see an increase in tourist flow again. But it is not just about economics. We need to study carrying capacities and do things responsibly for sustainable experiences.
“For this to happen, there has to be a synergy between all the stakeholders.
Jammu & Kashmir has opened up new destinations for tourists to experience, she said.
Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary in J&K’s Department of Tourism & Culture, said that the UT has witnessed the best tourist footfalls in the last 5 months.
