Srinagar: Security forces eliminated 2 Pakistan-supported terrorists overnight in an encounter in Pulwama district of Kashmir, raising to 4 the number of terrorists killed in a span of 24 hours.
The two terrorists were killed in the encounter which began last evening in Drabgam area of Pulwama.
One terrorist was killed last evening soon after the gunfight began, police said.
Two others were neutralised by this morning, police said.
“All three killed #terrorists are locals, linked with #terror outfit LeT,” Kashmir Zone police tweeted, quoting IGP Vijay Kumar.
LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) is a Pakistan-based terror outfit, getting all support from the Pakistani establishment.
One of them has been identified as Junaid Sheergojri, who was involved in the killing of policeman Reyaz Ahmad on May 13, the GP said.
Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 02 AK 47 rifles and 01 pistol were recovered from the site of the encounter, the IGP said.
Earlier, one terrorist was eliminated yesterday morning in an encounter in Khandipora area of Kulgam district, police said.
The terrorist of Pakistan-supported Hizbul Mujahideen wad identified as Rasiq Ahmed Ganie of Shouch in Kulgam.
The killed terrorist was involved in several terror crime cases, police spokesman said.
The security forces recovered a 303 Rifle with 23 rounds, a Pistol with 31 rounds and a hand grenade from the encounter site, police said.
