Srinagar: Security forces today killed two terrorists in an encounter in Kashmir’s Kulgam district in an an area which is close to the route of Amarnath Yatra that begins tomorrow.
The encounter took place in Nawapora area of Mir Bazar in Kulgam district after security forces launched a search operation on the basis of inputs about presence of terrorists there.

The Yatra to the Holy Amarnath Cave of Lord Shiva in the mountains of south Kashmir will begin tomorrow and continue for 43 days.
The pilgrimage is taking place physically after a gap of two years, with the disruption being caused by Covid.
The government is expecting lakhs of devotees from all over the country to undertake the yatra this time.
At the same time, Pakistan-sponsored and supported terrorists have threatened to target the yatra and pilgrims.
The so-called ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF), which is a shadowy frontal outfit of LeT, has issued the threat in the form of a pamphlet weeks back.
Cognizant of the heightened threat, the security forces and agencies have intensified operations and vigil to ensure that the yatra takes place without any incident.

As part of the stepped up anti-terror operations, the security forces, two days back, killed 2 terrorists of LeT in Nowpora-Kherpora area of Trubji village in Kulgam district.
The encounter site was close to the Amarnath Yatra route, the police said.
