Covid update:India records increase in fresh cases

New Delhi: India witnessed an increase in single-day Covid cases, with 19,893 cases being registered in the last 24 hours, against 17,135 recorded during the same duration the previous day.

The country also registered 53 fatalities during the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said.

With this, the cumulative death toll due to the pandemic since 2020 rose to 5,26,530.

The active caseload stood at 1,36,478 constituting 0.31% of the total Covid cases.

The recovery rate is currently at 98.50%, with 20,419 patients being recovered in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

With this the cumulative recoveries across the country have reached 4,34,24,029, it said.

The country’s daily positivity rate stands at 4.94% and the weekly positivity rate is at 4.64%.

Nearly 4,03,006 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, the Ministry said.

Around 205.22 crores of cumulative vaccine doses have been administered so far, with 38,20,676 doses being administered in the last 24 hours ago under the nationwide vaccination drive, the ministry said.

Yesterday, the country registered 17,135 fresh cases in 24 hours.
