India registers 5,664 new Covid cases, 35 deaths

New Delhi: India registered 5,664 fresh Covid cases and 35 fatalities in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said today.

With this, the cumulative death toll due to the pandemic since 2020 rose to 5,28,337.

The country’s active caseload stood at 47,922 constituting 0.11% of the total Covid cases, it said.

The recovery rate is currently at 98.71%, with 4,555 patients being recovered in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

The cumulative recoveries across the country have reached 4,39,57,929, it said.

The daily positivity rate stands at 1.96% and the weekly positivity rate is at 1.79%, the Ministry said.

With the administration of 14,84,216 Covid vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the country’s cumulative vaccination coverage has reached 216.56 crores.

Yesterday, the country registered 5,747 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours.

A day prior to that, the country registered 6,298 fresh Covid cases and 23 fatalities in 24 hours.
