Kashmir: 3 terrorists killed in 24 hours

Srinagar: In a span of 24 hours, security forces killed 3 terrorists, including a Pakistani national, in 2 separate encounters in Kulgam district of Kashmir.

All the 3 slain terrorists belonged to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit, police said.

This evening, security forces trapped 2 terrorists in Ahwatoo area of Kulgam following specific information about their presence there.

The hiding terrorists tried to flee by firing on the joint party of Army and police, which retaliated, leading to an encounter, police said.

The gunfight resulted in the killing of 2 local terrorists, police said.

Both were involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on Police/security forces and civilian atrocities, the police added.

Two AK-47 rifles and their ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorists.

This evening’s encounter took place within 24 hours of a gunfight in Batpora area of the same Kulgam district last night.

A Pakistani terrorist, identified as Abu Hurarah of JeM, was killed in that encounter, police said.

An Army soldier and 2 civilians were also injured in that gunfight and had to be hospitalised.

ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar said Hurarah was involved in several terror crimes and recruitment of local youths in terror ranks.

An AK rifle and ammunition was recovered from him.
