2 Lashkar terrorists killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar: Two terrorists of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter in Anantnag district in South Kashmir today, police said.
The gunfight, which went on for several hours, also left 2 soldiers and an Army assault dog injured.
The fierce gun battle took place in Tangpawa village of Anantnag after security forces launched a search operation following information about presence of terrorists there last night.
Police said 2 terrorists were killed and 2 AK rifles were recovered from the encounter site.
The slain terrorists were affiliated with LeT, Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said.
“They were involved in several terror crime cases,” he added.
The two soldiers and army assault dog ‘Zoom’, who were injured in the encounter, were evacuated from the scene of the gunfight, the Army said.
While the condition of the soldiers is said to be stable at the Army’s Base Hospital in Srinagar, the injured dog is stated to be critical at Army Veterinary Hospital, Srinagar.
