Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) poured scorn over former Pakistan military ruler Gen Pervez Musharraf on his death today, describing him as an “arrogant” and “wretched” General who played a “traitor” by helping the West in war against Taliban in Afghanistan.
The Islamist organization used the occasion to warn the present Army Generals of Pakistan that if they continue the policies of Musharraf and do not repent for the atrocities committed by them, they too will be a part of this “dark history”.
The TTP, in a statement, said the former “arrogant dictator of Pakistan”, who left for his “true destination”, had suffered the worldly punishment for arrogance on his deathbed for a long time.
Calling Musharraf the Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq al-Maghroor of that time, the TTP recalled that he had led with a great pride the forces against the only Islamic Emirate of the world (in Afghanistan in the form of Taliban rule).
The TTP was referring to October 2001 when Musharraf, then the President of Pakistan, had helped the US-led forces to invade Afghanistan in the aftermath of 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington carried out by Al Qaeda.
Afghan Ambassador Abdus Salam Zaeef, along with 600 “refugees”, was humiliated and handed over to the US, it said.
“He was a wretched General who converted populated areas into deserts all over the country, especially in Swat and Balochistan, for the sake of his ego and western interests,” it said.
“Similarly, the innocent girls of Jamia Hafsa and Lal Mosque in Islamabad were burnt with phosphorus bombs,” the TTP said.
It said Musharraf had left the memory of a traitor of Islam that has not been refreshed by this wretched age.
“Therefore, we want to tell the Generals who continue the policies created by Musharraf that if you do not stop your policies and do not repent for the atrocities you have committed, you will also be a part of this dark history,” it said.
