One terrorist killed at LoC as Indian Army foils infiltration bid

Srinagar: An attempt by Pakistan to push a group of terrorists into Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was foiled today by the Indian Army which killed one of the infiltrators and recovered a large quality of arms and ammunition.

Based on credible inputs received from intelligence agencies regarding likely infiltration of terrorists, several ambushes were laid in Tangdhar Sector of Line of Control (LoC) last night, Defence Spokesman said.

“At about 0400 hours, suspicious movement was detected and contact was established by the ambush party as part of joint operation,” he said.

Resultantly, one infiltrator was neutralised at around 800 metres on Indian side of the Line of Control, he said.

A detailed search of the area was carried out at first light, which led to the recovery of body of a terrorist alongside an AK series rifle, the spokesman said.

In addition, a bag was also recovered with varied war like stores, taking total recovery to 03 x AK rifles and six magazines, he added.

Apart from this, more than 200 rounds of AK rifles, 3 Pistols along with 3 magazines, 2 Chinese type grenades and miscellanies items were recovered, he said.

Indian Army remains vigilant at the LoC, making all efforts to remain steadfast in its task to not allow adversary in inserting terrorists to disturb peace and stability in Kashmir, the spokesman declared.
