Pakistan-backed infiltration bid foiled in J&K, 3 terrorists held, some others hit

Poonch (J&K): Alert Indian Army today foiled an attempt by a group of terrorists to sneak into Jammu and and Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), apprehending 3 of them and injuring or killing some others.

The group of terrorists were intercepted on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector while trying to cross over in the midst of last night, taking advantage of heavy rains, Defence spokesman said here.

At around 1.30 am, the Indian Army troops, who had laid an ambush, challenged the intruders.

The ambush party came under fire, which was retaliated and “some terrorists were hit”, the spokesman said.

Three terrorists with weapons, war-like stores, including one IED and Narcotics have been apprehended, he said.

One Indian Army soldier was injured in the gunfight and has been evacuated, the spokesman added.

Search operations are in progress and blood trails have been found, he said, suggesting that some terrorists have been injured or killed.
