Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) today said it killed and injured at least 6 Pakistani soldiers in an attack in South Waziristan.
The attack, using snipers, was carried out today at a military post in Makin area of Dera Ismail Khan, TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said in a brief statement.
Yesterday too, the TTP carried out a sniper attack in South Waziristan, hitting a Pakistani military official, he said.
The military official was injured by a sniper attack at Malik Kali check post in District Tiaraza of Wilayat Dera Ismail Khan in South Waziristan, according to Khurasani.
The TTP, which has a strong base in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan, has also taken a major step towards expanding its operations across the country.
In this direction, the Islamist outfit has appointed its ‘Governor’ to look after the affairs in Kalat and Makran districts of Balochistan.
“A meeting of Rahbari Shura (Council of Leaders), keeping in view the increasing strength of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, decided to further expand the operations by adding a new Wilayah (Area of Governance) where the structure has been set up like other Wilayahs.
“In the Province of Balochistan, Kalat and Makran have been given the status of a Wilayah and honorable Shaheen Baloch has been appointed as its governor.
The TTP, which wants Islamic rule in Pakistan, has been waging an all-out war against the Pakistani military, especially after ending a ceasefire on November 28 last year.
The TTP called off the ceasefire, saying the “brute” Pakistani military had used the opportunity to target the Mujahideen and their families.
