New Delhi, July 12: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Friday had a telephone conversation with his US counterpart Jake Sullivan, during which they discussed the forthcoming high-level engagements under the Quad framework.
The two NSAs discussed a range of issues of bilateral, regional and international concern and forthcoming high-level engagements under the Quad framework to be held in July 2024 and later in the year, a statement said.
The NSAs agreed to work closely to further advance India-US relations, which are built on shared values and common strategic and security interests. They reiterated the need to work collectively to address global challenges to peace and security and further expand the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, it added.
The phone call comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Moscow where he held informal and formal delegation level talks with President Vladimir Putin — a development that came as Washington was hosting the NATO Summit. The US had said it was concerned about the visit of PM Modi to Russia.
The US National Security Advisor was in New Delhi on July 17 when he held talks with NSA Ajit Doval that were focused on implementation of the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET).
Sullivan was accompanied by a delegation of senior US government officials and industry leaders and had also held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
