Srinagar, July 13(NVI) Police stopped J&K Apni Party leaders from visiting the martyrs’ graveyard in Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar today to pay homage to the martyrs of July 13, 1931.

As soon as  Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, along with his colleagues, left the party’s Sheikh Bagh office to visit the martyrs’ graveyard, police did not allow them to move forward.

Later, they held Fateh prayers on the road near Sheikh Bagh, Srinagar.

Martyrs’ Day is remembered by a section of Kashmiri society for the killing of 21 protesters on this day in 1931 by Dogra forces of the princely state of Jammu & Kashmir, ruled by Maharaja Hari Singh, the last king of the princely state. (NVI)
