Srinagar, July 22 (NVI):- Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a prominent religious leader of Kashmir, called for unity and urged people to refrain from sharing any content that can escalate communal tensions.
Mirwaiz addressed a media conference for the first time since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
Speaking on the occasion who was accompanied by a galaxy of religious scholars of different sects, Mirwaiz emphasized the importance of unity and caution in the use of social media.
“We appeal to people not to misuse social media, most importantly, not to share any content that can cause division or escalate communal tensions, and maintain unity,” said Mirwaiz Farooq.
His statement comes at a time when the region is witnessing many incidents of attacks on other sects on social media
He said that it is need of an hour to maintaining communal harmony and avoiding any actions that could lead to discord among communities.
He urged people to be responsible in their online activities and to refrain from sharing inflammatory or divisive content.
The call for unity and caution on social media usage reflects the ongoing concerns about the potential for online platforms to be used in ways that exacerbate existing tensions.(News Vibes of India)
