Srinagar, July 23 (NVI) An Indian soldier lost his life today during an operation to foil an infiltration bid by a group of terrorists at the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu region.
While the Rajouri operation was still continuing, another gunfight broke out this evening between security forces and a group of terrorists in Kupwara district of Kashmir Valley.
The Indian Army said it foiled an infiltration bid in Battal sector of Rajouri at around 3 AM.
During the operation, one soldier — Lance Naik Subhash Chander — was injured. He succumbed to his injuries later in the day.
The anti-infiltration operation was still going on.
In the evening, another encounter started between a group of terrorists and security forces in Lolab area of Kupwara district in Kashmir.
“Security forces have established contact with #terrorists near Trimukha Top, Lolab, #Kupwara. #Operation in progress,” Jammu and Kashmir Police posted on X.
These incidents came a day after some terrorists attacked the house of a member of Village Defence Committee (VDC) in Rajouri in which his uncle got injured.
The nearby army unit reacted, leading to an encounter which ended as the terrorists managed to escape.
A hunt is still underway to nab the attackers.
