Srinagar, Aug 11 (NVI): The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed optimism about the forthcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir, indicating that the process would proceed according to the schedule laid out by the central government.
Speaking at a public event, LG Manoj Sinha emphasized that the sequence of events—delimitation, elections, and the restoration of statehood—is progressing as outlined by Home Minister Amit Shah on August 5, 2019, in Parliament.
LG Sinha reiterated that the delimitation process, which involves redrawing the boundaries of electoral constituencies, has been completed.
This process was crucial in ensuring fair and equitable representation for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The LG stated, “We are moving in the right direction, and I am hopeful that elections will be conducted soon, providing the people of J&K with their democratic rights.” Regarding election dates, he said that it is in jurisdiction and rights of the Election Commission of India(ECI) to announce.
The promise to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir remains a significant focus for the administration. The LG assured that this commitment by the government of India stands firm and will be realized in due course, following the successful completion of the electoral process. “The sequence announced by the Home Minister is clear, and we are following it diligently,” LG Sinha said.
LG Sinha also highlighted various developmental initiatives undertaken by the administration to improve infrastructure and public services in the region.
The central government and local administration continue to work towards creating a conducive environment for elections, with security and logistical preparations reportedly underway. (News Vibes of India)
