Perpetrators of Tral shrine blaze will not be spared: J&K L-G

Jammu (NVI): Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Girish Chandra Murmu, today strongly condemned the incident at Old Tral, in which a Sufi shrine adjacent to a local Mosque was set ablaze by miscreants.

Terming the incident as a “cowardly act” the J&K administrator said that the perpetrators of this heinous act will not be spared and shall be brought to Justice.

The incident took place in the intervening night of November 25-26 in the Kounsarbal, Krusbal Mohalla of Old Tral, an official statement said.

He said that such acts that are designed to arouse passion among the people and hurt their sentiments will not be tolerated.

The Lt Governor meanwhile has appealed to the people to maintain peace and calm and not get swayed by any rumour mongering or by any inimical element.

Murmu also directed the Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh, to strengthen security of shrines across the Union Territory of J&K.

Meanwhile, he directed the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to take immediate measures at Government expenses so as to restore the shrine to its original pristine position.
