Srinagar, Aug 16 (NVI):- The Administrative Council of Jammu and Kashmir, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, has approved a cadre review of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services, aimed at strengthening the administrative setup in the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Shri Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; Shri Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; and Dr. Mandeep K Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor.
This review comes in response to the increased complexities and scale of operations in the region, as well as the evolving work profiles necessitated by new schemes and initiatives.
As part of the overhaul, the strength and composition of the services will be revised. Specifically, eighty-seven new posts will be added, while fifty existing posts will be deleted, and forty-six posts will be created. Additionally, twenty-nine posts will be upgraded to enhance administrative experience and efficiency in handling government affairs.
The cadre review is expected to facilitate career progression within the administrative services and open up employment opportunities for the youth by making vacancies available for direct recruitment through relevant agencies.
Furthermore, the Administrative Council has directed the Home Department to expedite the restructuring of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service cadre, highlighting a broader effort to enhance the efficiency of the region’s administrative and law enforcement bodies.(News Vibes of India)
