Srinagar, Aug 20 (NVI): The ongoing nine-day book fair at SKICC, which is located just behind beautiful Dal Lake, and in the interiors of SKICC Srinagar has become a major attraction for the book lovers from the entire region.
The fair comprises more than 200 stalls, with a rich collection of books in different languages, like English, Urdu, Kashmiri, Hindi, Dogri, and other Indian languages.
According to the details obtained by the News Vibes of India—(NVI), readers of all ages have been visiting the fair, which is offering them a wide genre ranging from literature and poetry to academic texts and children’s books.
The environs of Dal Lake only add to the beauty of the fair and provide an ideal environment for the book enthusiasts to have a look at the books and discover new reads.
Uzma, a student from Srinagar, was pleased and said, I got the books here that were looking everywhere for. The variety is incredible and the setting by Dal Lake makes it more special.
A local teacher, Irfan Ahmad, said, It is not an event of buying books at all; on the contrary, it is like giving an incentive to the young generation to read more. “It’s a kind of cultural celebration that unites the community,” he added.
Notably, the stalls, run by local and national publishers, have seen an unending rush of people since the first day of the fair. Many visitors also liked the concept of the fair, which in a way, pays respect to the linguistic diversity of the place.
The Chinar Book Festival, which is to culminate on August 25, has already brought about change as it has revived the interest in books among Srinagar residents and other people.—(News Vibes of India)
