Registration for girls begins for earlier male-only Sainik Schools

New Delhi (NVI): Following-up on an earlier pathbreaking decision of Defence Ministry to open the male-only Sainik schools for female pupils too, the government today started the online registration for girls for admission in Class VI in five Sainik schools for the academic session 2020-21.

According to an official statement, the last date of registration is December 6 and the examination will be held on January 5 next year.

The online application form is available atwww.sainikschooladmission.in. Meanwhile, model question papers have also been made available on the website.

Notably, the government had approved the proposal for admission of girl children in Sainik schools from the academic session 2021-22 in a phased manner.

The decision was taken following the success of the pilot project started by the Ministry of Defence for admission of girl children in Sainik School Chhingchhip in Mizoram two years ago.

For the academic session 2020-21, online registration for girl children is open in five Sainik Schools — Chandrapur (Maharashtra), Bijapur (Karnataka), Kodagu (Karnataka), Kalikiri (Andhra Pradesh) and Ghorakhal (Uttarakhand).

Girl candidates born between April 01, 2008 and March 31, 2010 will be eligible for registration. Exams will be based on written with multiple choice questions consisting of Maths, General Knowledge, Language and Intelligence.

The selection procedure will be strictly based on merit on performance in written examination subject to medical fitness.
