Srinagar, Aug 27 (NVI): Anantnag Police on Tuesday reported a major success in cracking a series of theft cases by arresting five suspects from Kokernag.
“The arrests followed a synergy between the investigations of the Anantnag-based ESU and have led to the recovery of stolen property valued at several lakhs,” said the police in a statement.
“The accused have been identified as Mohd Imran Hajam of Wan Devalgam, Nasir Ahmad Dar of Tangpawa Kokernag, Adil Hussain Dar of Nagam, Shabir Ahmad Wagay of Nagam Kokernag, and Arshid Hussain Rather of Sultanpora Pattan.
From their possession, the police recovered 5 gold coins, 5 gold rings, 4 pairs of earrings, 1 pendant set, 1 gold chain, 1 gold necklace with pendant, 3 mobile phones, and ₹36,000 in cash. Besides, two vehicles involved in the theft were impounded by the police,” they added.
They added that cases have been registered under FIR No. 83/2024 and FIR No. 05/2024 at Police Station Kokernag, and further investigation is ongoing.
Additionally, the authorities urge the public to come forward and report any suspicious activity to help ensure safety and security in the neighborhood.—(NVI)
