New Delhi (NVI): Government has withdrawn additional security forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir in the run up to and post August 5 abrogation of special status of J&K, and today the number of security forces stationed in the newly created Union Territory is same as since 1990, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said.

“Even today, the same number of security forces is deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, who have been stationed there since 1990. The additional security forces deployed there have been removed,” the Home Minister said while speaking at Republic Summit on ‘One India- Firm Resolve’ here today.

Shah also said that stone-pelting incidents have come down to 40 to 45% in Kashmir since August 5 when the special status of the Jammu and Kashmir granted under Article 370 was scrapped.

He said Pakistan “misguided the youth of the region, armed them and propagated terrorism. Until Article 370 wasn’t abrogated, it was impossible to defeat terrorism in J&K”.

“India’s response is determined by Pakistan’s action. If they want peace, they’ll have to end terrorism,” the Home Minister added.
