Srinagar, Sep 16 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir Police today said that a multi-tier security grid has been put in place for the smooth and peaceful Assembly polls in Kashmir.
Talking to reporters here, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdhi said that elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for the incident free elections.
“Proper deployment of Central forces and J&K Police teams have been made on ground. Security of polling booths, polling staff and polling material have been finalised,” he said.
He said the inter-State naka’s and inter district check-points have been set up to ensure a close watch on the suspects. “The security grid is maintaining highest level of alertness to ensure free and fair polls,” the IGP said.
About the VVIP visits especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Srinagar on September 19 to address a rally, the IGP said that the visit of VVIPs during elections is a normal procedure. “We are committed to ensure smooth visit of VVIPs. Proper security plan is in place to ensure smooth visit of dignitaries. There will be a separate traffic plan as well for the VVIP visits in Kashmir,” he said.
