Baramulla, Sep 24 (NVI) : The District Administration Baramulla, led by District Election Officer (DEO) Minga Sherpa, has started home voting today on 24th of September, allowing registered voters aged 85 and above, as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwD), to cast their votes from home.
The initiative that shall continue till September 26th, aims to ensure that every eligible voter, regardless of physical limitations, can exercise their democratic right.
In a notable instance, a 115-year-old voter from the Uri Assembly Constituency expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for this special provision. “I am thankful to the ECI for providing this facility, allowing us to cast our vote from home,” the voter remarked, appreciating the accessibility that this initiative offers to elderly and disabled voters.
Dedicated polling teams have been deployed across all seven Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in Baramulla, visiting the homes of registered 85+ and PwD voters. The District Election Office has taken all necessary precautions to ensure that the voting process is carried out safely, securely, and in compliance with electoral guidelines.
DEO emphasized, “This initiative will continue until September 26th, and we are committed to reaching every eligible 85+ and PwD registered voter across the district.”(News Vibes of India)
