Srinagar, Oct 16 (NVI): Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are attending Omar Abdullah’s oath-taking ceremony as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir UT.
A senior Congress leader said, ” Yes Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka have arrived in Srinagar and are on their way to SKICC.”
Omar is set to be sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, marking his second term in this position.
In his first term, Abdullah served as Chief Minister of the erstwhile state from January 5, 2009, to January 8, 2015. The National Conference-Congress alliance won the assembly elections following the abrogation of Article 370.
The NC dominated the Assembly election, winning 42 of the former state’s 90 elected seats. The Congress – expected to do well – flopped, winning only six seats; it won 12 in the 2014 election. (News Vibes of india)
