Srinagar, Oct 20 (NVI): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Sunday that the Kashmir Marathon, with its large-scale participation, would not have been possible without the peace efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose initiatives have created the conditions for such events to be successfully held in the region.
He credited the PM’s efforts in restoring peace and stability to Jammu and Kashmir, stating, “The Prime Minister’s work in bringing peace to Jammu and Kashmir is one of the key reasons why a marathon of this scale can be held here today.”
The event included both a full marathon and a half marathon, with participants from across India and 12 other countries. Sinha expressed gratitude to CS Atal Duloo, who initiated the idea for the Srinagar marathon three months ago.
He also acknowledged the role of various government departments in organizing the event and commended the coordination between them.
“The lights of Srinagar today reflect the city’s spirit,” Sinha said, adding that a marathon is about more than just competition—it’s about participation and community engagement.
With runners from 12 countries, the event showcased unity and the commitment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Sinha said, “This marathon has become a symbol of dedication and the spirit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The LG also said the government’s focus on infrastructure development in the region, suggesting that this progress will support a positive future for Jammu and Kashmir.—(News Vibes of India)
