Srinagar, Nov 03 (NVI): The BJP elected Sunil Sharma, General Secretary and MLA from Kishtwar, as the Leader of Opposition (LoP), while Dr Narinder Singh, MLA from Jammu-South, was chosen as the party’s candidate for Deputy Speaker for J&K assembly.
The decision was taken during a meeting by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a Legislative Party Meeting at Church Lane, Sonwar, Srinagar.
The meeting as per the statement was presided over by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Prahlad Joshi, and BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, who oversees the Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh regions.
“Key party figures present included Co-Incharge for Jammu and Kashmir, Ashish Sood, BJP UT President Sat Sharma, Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, former BJP President Ravinder Raina, along with 28 BJP Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and other core members of the BJP leadership,” reads the statement.
Addressing the attendees, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi emphasized the importance of unity in the party’s objectives.
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh highlighted the significance of the upcoming sessions for Jammu and Kashmir.
Prahlad Joshi said the Legislative Party members have unanimously elected Sunil Sharma as the Leader of the Opposition for the Kashmir Assembly. “We are committed to addressing public issues and contributing to the vision of a Viksit Bharat under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi,” he said.(News Vibes of India)
