IGP Kashmir Visits Anantnag to Enhance Police Preparedness and Combat Drug Trafficking

Anantnag, Nov 12(NVI): As drive to bolster law enforcement capabilities, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, visited Anantnag District to review police training and operational preparedness initiatives.

“IGP Birdi supervised a competency test for the Special Operations Group (SOG) at the District Police Lines,” reads a statement.

It reads as the assessment focused on sharpening the skills of SOG personnel to ensure they remain prepared to tackle evolving security challenges. He urged officers to regularly upgrade their abilities to maintain operational excellence.

During his visit, IGP Birdi also observed a workshop aimed at enhancing investigation skills related to narcotic cases. The training, which focuses on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, is designed to improve investigative methods, evidence gathering, and legal measures in drug-related cases. Birdi emphasized the need for thorough investigations and professionalism to combat drug trafficking effectively.

The IGP also chaired a meeting with senior officers, including DIG SKR Javid Iqbal and SSP Anantnag Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy. They reviewed the district’s security status and discussed strategies to strengthen law and order.—(NVI)
